Dealing with the down economy and work.

Who would have know that 1 year ago that things were really good financially and now things are scary. In our home we had a number of things happen not including the down turn in the economy. Kind of like a double trouble.  In all this we have kept our focus on the most important things like our health. About a year ago our daughter contracted RSV respiratory virus and pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. We were advised that a sudden move to lower elevation would be necessary for her health. How low we didn’t know. We decided to try Denver and see what happens. During this we also decided to change occupations and go to work for a different company some months later.

The job change would enable us to move to lower elevation if we needed to within that company. I went through with it and left my job of 13 years in hope of better insurance and a better life for my daughter and family. What happened next was a complete surprise. I went through 2 weeks of training and at the end of it when I was supposed to begin my task I was met at the door that morning with a notice of layoff. What I surprise that was. Not only did I leave a secure job of 14 years, now I was unemployed. What a feeling of hopelessness this was.  I was not really able to return to my prior job due to the long travel time involved. I wouldn’t be able to be at home at much as I need to take care of my family.

This all happened at the same time as the economy going bad around November, what bad timing. My main point to all this is to really talk about how important your family is and some of the choices may not work out as planned, but it was done in hopes of improving life for my family with the best of intentions.

Sometimes we don’t like things that happen to us and we really look into the reasons of why god has took you in this direction or allowed this to happen. Still I believe it was for my daughter’s sake and hopefully the happiness of my family. My wife has also sacrificed so much and hopefully she will always continue to find happiness in my love that I have for her and my daughter in these hardest of times.

I’m always looking to god for the answers and the right things to do. I hope I’m hearing him correctly because these are the hardest of times.
