April Fools Day

What a fun day. April first can be a day of complete adventure for those not really seeking adventure. Something I always wanted to do is put a gold fish in the water bottle at work where all the employees gather round and drink of the fresh purified cool clear water. I never did get the chance yet because who knows; someone would take complete offense and make a big deal of it.

Some successful jokes I can share with you. One year we filled the office manager’s office with packing peanuts. That was beyond words and totally fun to see his look on his face when he came to work to find he had to spend an hour or so clean up the mess. He was not impressed but vowed to get even.

Next joke was played on another co worker who always brought his dog on occasion to the shop area. This was a cool dog, but as with all dogs they like things that stink. We found some fish sauce, which is generally purchased at our local Asian store and spread some of it in the office trash can where this guy works. We waited and sure enough. The dog took the bait and was quickly making fast work of the trash can, spreading it around and rolling in it. We kind of were in trouble for that but we didn’t care.

Ok I must tell you we work for a new car dealer and the joke that got us in trouble was that we took the dealership plate off the ownerships car and put the competitor’s dealer plates on the car. We enjoyed that for weeks. The owner was driving around advertizing for someone else. I thought that was really nice of them, well not really… it was great when they discovered it. Too much fun to watch.

Well it was a great day and so many other jokes to tell about.

My Favorite Hot sauce

Cholula Hot Sauce, how come I eat it on everything. They say when you spice your food after its cooked that it is an insult in some customs. I don’t know why I like it so much except to say its sour hotness is what my tastes desire. I like dipping everything in it and I especially like adding it to rice and salad dressings. To weird, right?

I’ve heard that hot sauces are good for you in digestion. I just like things spicy. No rudeness intended for those who watch and ask why I would put this stuff on a perfectly good steak. It adds to my food experience and it also has zero calories.

I find myself doing this with Pace Picante sauce also. Maybe I should write my own spicy recipe book. I’ve tried all kinds of hot sauces and my three choices are Religious Experience, Pace Picante sauce and of course Cholula Hot Sauce.

Wishing for an adventure at Lake Powell

I was thinking today about how cool it would be to go to Lake Powell and rent a house boat for a weekend and just hang out in a canyon and eat and swim. Of course you would have to have friends along to also share in the good times of eating, hanging out and swimming. I wonder if these house boats have power to run the rice cookers that all our friends would need to cook rice and food and all. I was just thinking that it would be cool to hang out and swim in the nice warm water and sleeping in the boat in the gentle rocking waves.

Would there be any time to sleep, oh my, every time we get together with friends we stay up late and play cards. That would be cool also. We have great friends and I think when we get together it  is a god thing and it is enjoyed by all. We have found some really good friends and now I am wondering if they have a big enough houseboat for everyone.

I wonder if they have a bus we can rent to get all our friends to the house boat adventure. I’m sure many would want to go. What’s good about that is with many going the cost would be split up and cheaper for all. I guess ill have to look into this adventure and see if it would be possible to have a party this big and a party this fun for all. Lake Powel is a beautiful place I’m sure not all have seen, and me myself have not seen it or been there at all.

I’m looking forward to this adventure and am hoping it will happen soon for all.

The new Camaro, do I wish for one???

Today I learned that we will soon be seeing the new Chevrolet Camaro at our dealership where I work. General Motors need to hit a home run with this one especially because the latest troubles the company is seeing. The one we will be getting first at our dealership should be red and full of nice options.

I am especially excited to see this new car because I own a Camaro 30th anniversary 1997 model. Of course I couldn’t leave it stock without adding a few tricks to it to make it fast and powerful. I’ve always been a fan of these cars and am tired of see our competition beating us out the past few years with their muscle cars. I’ve got to give the other two manufactures credit because they have made some very fine looking and driving automobiles.

Let’s just hope the new one is a good one. Ill still always like the one I have but it doesn’t hurt to drool over the new ones.

Yeh a new job

Yes a new job. Well I like to say I’m excited but I quickly found out the in a bad economy my new work mates are not excited to see me there. I’m excited about my job because it is 5 minutes from home and I can be close to the ones I love. So far the working environment is unfriendly to say the least and most think I just started in this career and act like I have no knowledge of my job and what I’m supposed to do. They gave me a computer and said here you go. Thrown out to a pack of wolves was more like it. No one would help me understand the new computer system and I was left on my own. I’m good at catching on and it is happening quickly much to their surprise.  I’m looking forward to my new friends here, or should I be cautious? Time will tell, but I’m still excited I have work.

Dealing with the down economy and work.

Who would have know that 1 year ago that things were really good financially and now things are scary. In our home we had a number of things happen not including the down turn in the economy. Kind of like a double trouble.  In all this we have kept our focus on the most important things like our health. About a year ago our daughter contracted RSV respiratory virus and pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. We were advised that a sudden move to lower elevation would be necessary for her health. How low we didn’t know. We decided to try Denver and see what happens. During this we also decided to change occupations and go to work for a different company some months later.

The job change would enable us to move to lower elevation if we needed to within that company. I went through with it and left my job of 13 years in hope of better insurance and a better life for my daughter and family. What happened next was a complete surprise. I went through 2 weeks of training and at the end of it when I was supposed to begin my task I was met at the door that morning with a notice of layoff. What I surprise that was. Not only did I leave a secure job of 14 years, now I was unemployed. What a feeling of hopelessness this was.  I was not really able to return to my prior job due to the long travel time involved. I wouldn’t be able to be at home at much as I need to take care of my family.

This all happened at the same time as the economy going bad around November, what bad timing. My main point to all this is to really talk about how important your family is and some of the choices may not work out as planned, but it was done in hopes of improving life for my family with the best of intentions.

Sometimes we don’t like things that happen to us and we really look into the reasons of why god has took you in this direction or allowed this to happen. Still I believe it was for my daughter’s sake and hopefully the happiness of my family. My wife has also sacrificed so much and hopefully she will always continue to find happiness in my love that I have for her and my daughter in these hardest of times.

I’m always looking to god for the answers and the right things to do. I hope I’m hearing him correctly because these are the hardest of times.
